Sound on Sound recently reviewed the Metasonix S-1000 Wretch Machine, and contrary to my expectations, they really seemed to like it! Nice in-depth review and obvious that the author has become a believer. Nice surprise compared to the barrage of negative opinion that often congregates around the brand.

The author states that the S-1000 tubes glow "far more so than those in my Korg Electribes (which aren’t driven hard enough to really glow: they fake it using a nearby LED!)"
Huhwha? The glow from tubes has nothing to do with how hard the tube is being driven, unless you're running too much current through them and burning up the plates. In normal operation you apply the required filament voltage and they do their thing. Does Korg underpower the filaments in its Electribes so they can't be sued for burnt fingers or something?
